ABINGER STAINED GLASS | AMANDA WINFIELD
Ambers Windows
Stained Glass Panels
Amber was a student of mine for many years until she returned to the U.S.A. when her husband retired. I was so thrilled when she commissioned me to make this set of three windows for her house in South Dakota. She wanted one to remind her of all her times here and that had to include our beloved pets, Floss the dog and Moth and China the cats. (sadly no longer with us) She ALWAYS brought them gifts and treats when she came. The window includes Leith Hill Tower, Denbies Vineyard, an English oak tree, The Tillingbourne and a bit of artistic license with the bridge. It also subtly includes the view onto a golf course from their rented house in Surrey. Amber appears in a mini stained glass window feeding Moth and Floss treats and China sits on the roof of my workshop.
One window takes her back to Korea when she and her husband lived for a time. It shows the cherry blossom in spring and persimmon in winter which hangs onto bright orange fruit.
The last is of the underwater world of the diver. Both she and Mitchel were keen SCUBA divers and I have depicted him just top right hand. Just before she left for America she gifted me a quilt she had made. It is a very treasured gift.
